Makes easier to type UNICODE, into Geany.

http://www.geany.org/

For example, after you have typed 2203, into Geany, press Ctrl+Right Alt+y, and 2203 is replaced with ∃.

To replace at most 3 hex digits left of cursor, press Ctrl+Right Alt+o. This makes possible typing modifiers, to letter e, that would otherwise be considered a hex digit. For example, type e301, and next press Ctrl+Right Alt+o, and e301 is replaced with é.

Last you may type things like 1d4ae, and press Ctrl+Alt+e, and 1d4ae is replaced by 𝒮. Codepoints of 5 hex digits are less frequently used than those of 4, so they get their own key binding.

The plugin may be used with Geany versions 0.21, …, 1.32.

User Reviews

  • Works very nicely - Does just what it says on the tin! The developer is also very helpful. [1] Richard H [1] He taught me the following (MY APOLOGIES - MY NICE FORMATTING DISAPPEARS ...) To install GenayUnicodeInput in Ubunto12.04 : - Download GeanyEasyUnicodeInput.zip fromSourceforge to its own directory unzip it do $ sudo make in that directory a) If that succeeds, you will have a new file " GeanyEasyUnicodePlugin.so " Continue as below b) It that failed, then you need to do some extra work, as follows $ sudo apt-get install libgtkmm-2.4-dev and $ sudo apt-get install intltool Followed by sudo make, as before To continue - you need to put the new file where Geany can find it Open Geany / Tools / Plugin Manager Look at the first couple of lines. They tell you where Geany is finding its Plugins On my Ubuntu system they read Plugin File Addons /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/geany/addons.so So "/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/geany/" is where the new plugin should be copied on my system (your mileage may differ) Do the copy as sudo. Check that you now have a new entry in Geany / Tools / Plugin Manager like this Plugin File GeanyUnicodeInput /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/geany/GeanyEasyUnicodePlugin.so Click the box Active in Geany / Tools / Plugin Manager Relaunch Geany All done! Any mistakes in the above are my mistakes, not the developers
